While most of us think of athlete’s foot as a condition that inflicts men, women experience athlete’s foot as well. In fact, the condition affects 70% of the population- being men, women and children of either sex before puberty. However, it is uncommon among women. Athlete’s foot is the result of a fungus called Trichophyton, and among its symptoms are itching and burning of the skin and in severe cases cracking, pain and bleeding. The rash will appear red, or the skin dry and peeling on the feet.

Use baking soda. This is an inexpensive remedy that most women have in their kitchen cupboard and works as a foot powder helping to relieve the condition. Either sprinkle the baking soda onto the infected area and in your shoes, or make a paste by mixing the baking soda with warm water.

After getting out of the bath or shower, use a hairdryer on your feet to dry them. Also, use a hairdryer to blow hair into your shoes to keep your shoes dry.

Rub antiperspirant onto your feet.

Disinfect your shoes with Lysol to kill off any living fungus spores within your shoes. Simply spray the Lysol in your shoes and then dry them with the hairdryer.

Combine a mixture of two teaspoons of salt and add per one pint of warm water to soak your feet. This will help to eliminate the growth of the fungus.

When your condition begins to improve remove the dead skin using a bristled scrub brush.
