Acid reflux affects many people and women especially, when they are pregnant suffer from acid reflux. The increase in hormones causes a decrease in pressure on the muscle that is known to block reflux. The baby can also make the pressure a bit worse as they sit low in the tummy. These factors can make a woman extremely uncomfortable.

Acid reflux can vary from person to person and has different severities. There are many different causes, and what might work well for you, may not work well for another person. Some may even feel worse than others.

Women are always looking for natural or home remedies to help reduce the acid reflux severity or to relieve it all together. There are many methods and a few are listed below:

Remedies to Help with Acid Reflux

Glass of Milk

While many have said that milk is one of the worst things to drink for acid reflux, it works well with skim milk or whole milk. This method is actually more recommended and can give you relief almost immediately.


Water is good for diluting the acid that is in your stomach and can also help to wash down anything that may come back up later on. Drink a nice big glass after each meal to help keep everything down.


Almonds have become a very popular treatment nowadays. By chewing a few in the morning or after each meal, this can help relieve some of the symptoms and acid in some people.

Fennel Tea or Chamomile

These two can give a soothing effect to acid reflux. Fennel tea should be sipped and is not meant to be gulped. It should not be too cold or too hot.

Eat an Apple

Eating an organic apple after one of your meals has been shown to help reduce some of the acid reflux symptoms.

Candied Ginger

When you start to notice the acid reflux kicking in, chew a small piece of ginger. Putting a small piece in a cup of tea can also help if you are not a fan of eating it. Make sure you let it sit in the tea for a minute before drinking it.

Apple Cider Vinegar

For a severe case, you can swallow two or three tablespoons of vinegar that is not diluted. You can also take the same amount and mix it in warm water.
